12:00, Luncheon and Award-winning Speaker
1:30, Daring Leadership workshop, based on Brené Brown's Dare to Lead™ curriculum

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate women who break barriers and to advance the educational, personal, and professional development of women who seek to make a difference in the world. Your engagement and sisterhood mean the world to us—and to our next generation of women leaders.

In 2019, for the first time ever, Breaking Barriers was a ticketed luncheon and speaking event, followed by an optional Daring Leadership workshop, based on Brené Brown's Dare to Lead™ curriculum.

ABOUT OUR LUNCHEON KEYNOTE: MARITA GOLDEN
(12:00PM - 1:30PM EST)

In 2019, we were joined by our keynote conversationalist, Marita Golden, who is a true “BA Woman.” Marita is an award-winning author of seventeen works, including The Wide Circumference of Love, which was recently optioned for TV under the “Just A Rebel” production banner. Marita uses words artfully to discuss issues she cares about, with frequent themes at the intersection of the personal and the political.

As a literary activist, Marita Golden co-founded the Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Foundation (where she still serves as President Emeritus), which presents the nation’s only national fiction award for college writers of African descent. She is also a veteran teacher of writing, having served as faculty at area institutions including Johns Hopkins University as the Writing Program’s Distinguished Visiting Writer.

ABOUT OUR AFTERNOON WORKSHOP
(1:30PM - 3:00PM EST)

Daring Leadership: Rumbling with Vulnerability
Are you a woman who seeks to make a difference in the world? This Dare to Lead™ workshop is your invitation to become a braver leader. Participants learned the four skill sets of daring leadership: rumbling with vulnerability, living into your values, braving trust, and learning to rise based on Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead™ courage-building model.

Our Facilitator: Ana Estrada Daniels
With over twenty years of experience, Ana Estrada Daniels is the founder and CEO of Anovo Solutions, a California-based executive coaching firm. She is a Certified Brené Brown Dare to Lead™ Facilitator, Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) from the Coaches Training Institute and an Annie E. Casey Foundation fellow.
